Eriskay lies off the Southern tip of South Uist, to which it's linked by a mile long rock causeway, and this is the route most people would take to get to the island.  South Uist itself can be accessed from the Scottish mainland by car ferry  from Oban, which arrives in Lochboisdale, about five miles from the Eriskay causeway.

Alternatively, there is another car ferry service to Lochmaddy in North Uist, leaving from Uig on the Isle of Skye. On arrival in Lochmaddy, more causeways enable you to cross to Benbecula, then onto South Uist resulting in a drive to Eriskay of little more than an hour. The car ferries to the Hebrides are all operated by Caledonian MacBrayne, or CalMac.

Daily flights come into Benbecula ( except Sundays) and are operated by BA/Loganairand Highland Airways.  Local coach services run from the airport to Eriskay, car hire is available from several outlets and there are numerous taxis available by phone booking.
